LANCASTER, Pa.  – Senior Doug Cummings (Saylorsburg, Pa./Pleasant Valley) was named the Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week following a record-breaking performance against 23rd-ranked Muhlenberg College on Saturday.

Cummings picked up his first-ever weekly honor from the conference after smashing the program and conference standards for the longest field goal made in a game. The senior booted a 55-yarder in the third quarter against the Mules, besting the Gettysburg College mark by seven yards and topping the Centennial record by three yards. Cummings added a 29-yard field goal in the game along with an extra-point, six punts averaging 30.5 yards, and four kickoffs averaging 61.5 yards. The senior also contributed defensively with a pair of tackles on returns.

On the season, Cummings has connected on a league-high seven field goals. Three of his field goals have gone for 40-plus yards and he has hit his last six attempts. The senior is also averaging 35.4 yards per punt and 58.1 yards per kickoff this season. Defensively, Cummings has totaled five tackles in five games.

Gettysburg has featured a weekly award winner in the conference in each of the last two weeks. Junior Nick Riggio (Verona, N.J./Verona) was named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week last week.

Gettysburg enters the conference-wide bye week this week before heading to Susquehanna University (5-0, 4-0 CC) on Friday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m.
