More news about: Lawrence

APPLETON, Wis. -- Josh Sheron has joined the Lawrence University football coaching staff, Director of Athletics Kim Tatro announced today.
A native of Marion, Ind., Sheron will coach the offensive line and serve as run game coordinator for the Vikings. Sheron also takes on the duties of human performance coordinator.
"We're excited to welcome Josh and his wife, Taylor, to our football family," Lawrence head coach Tony Aker said. "Josh will do an incredible job with our Viking offensive line and with our human performance program."
Sheron comes to Lawrence from Indiana Wesleyan University where he has served as tackles and tights end coach and director of football operations since June 2017.
"I am incredibly excited to begin here at Lawrence University," Sheron said. "Lawrence is a wonderful place, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this program."
A 2017 graduate of Trine University, Sheron played football for the Thunder and earned a bachelor's degree in health sciences. A member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Academic Honor Roll, Sheron also was inducted into the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honors Society. Sheron is working on his master's degree in leadership and sports administration.
Sheron did an internship at Trine as the assistant offensive line coach before making the move to Indiana Wesleyan, a NAIA institution located in Sheron's hometown of Marion, Ind.
Sheron's group at Indiana Wesleyan put up some impressive numbers during his time there, ranking second in all of the NAIA in fewest sacks allowed and eighth in scoring offense during the 2018 season. During that campaign, Indiana Wesleyan averaged 420 yards and 39.7 points per contest.
"Josh is a Flinch Free leader who puts a premium on the complete development of every young person he comes in contact with," Aker said. "He did an incredible job helping kickstart IWU, and we're confident in what he'll do here with us."
Lawrence opens its 2021 campaign on Sept. 4 with a nonconference game against Finlandia University on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
