Boxers Fall to Dubuque, 37-26

More news about: Pacific

Junior running back Josh Harris had his second career multi-touchdown game and his second 100-plus yard rushing effort was not quite enough as the Pacific University football team dropped a 37-26 decision to host Dubuque on Saturday evening.

The Boxers (0-2) closed out the opening half with a touchdown when Nick Bower connected with Kobe Williams for a 10-yard reception, cutting the Spartans' lead to 28-13. Pacific found the end zone on its first two drives of the second half, 28-26. Trailing by two, the Boxers decided to go for two and the Spartans' special teams defense units saw Emmanuel Jenkins step in front of a Bower pass for two points to extend the Dubuque lead to 30-26.

Clinging to a four-point lead, 30-26, midway through the fourth quarter, Dubuque quarterback Sean Duffy tossed his third touchdown pass of the night to Kody Reimer that put the host Spartans ahead by two possessions and 11 points.

Duffy finished the night, completing 14 of 29 passes for 265 yards and five touchdowns in the win. Reimer led the Spartans with five receptions to go along with 100 yards. Fellow receiver Elliot Pipkins had 101 yards on two catches and a touchdown in the win.

For the Boxers, Harris had 119 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. Ty Hargis hauled in eight passes for 61 yards and a touchdown, plus Williams finished the night with five catches and a team-best 63 yards and a touchdown.
