The Nichols College football team was defeated by Endicott College 45-14 Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Football action at Hempstead Stadium in Beverly, Mass.
 
Sophomore Joshua Pierre-Charles returned a kickoff 87 yards for a score while freshman Hunter Ferreira hauled in a 39-yard touchdown at the halftime horn for the Bison (3-3, 1-1 CCC). Junior signal caller Michael Pina tossed for 153 yards and one score, and was also the team's leading rusher with 45 yards on the ground.
 
For Endicott (4-2, 2-0 CCC), freshman wide receiver Shea McManaway caught six passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns (14, 8) while junior Hakim Fleming rushed for 126 yards and one score. Junior QB Joe Kalosky completed 17-of-23 pass attempts for 197 yards and three touchdowns.
 
Endicott compiled 546 yards of total offense – including 349 on the ground – and converted 50 percent of its third down attempts (5-of-10). Defensively, Nichols was led by juniors Sean McGuigan and Michael Spraulding with nine tackles each. Junior Jamal Lewis paced the Gulls with nine stops.
 
Three things you need to know...
-Pierre-Charles return touchdown was the sixth-longest in program history and the third of the season for the Bison. Junior Jake Wood returned two kicks for touchdowns in the opener at Westfield State.
-Junior Tony Martignoli has caught three-or-more passes in three consecutive games. Ferreira, meanwhile, led the team in both receptions (four) and yards (90) on the day.
-Pina has thrown for at least one touchdown in five-straight games.
