Kalamazoo College football falls at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College football team lost 33-7 at Hope College on Saturday.

Kalamazoo took a 7-0 lead when Zach VanFaussien connected with Ethan Kubik on a 17-yard touchdown with 3:59 left in the first quarter.

Hope evened the score early in the second quarter and pulled ahead 13-6 midway through the quarter before taking that lead into halftime.

Hope added a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter and another early in the fourth en route to the win.

VanFaussien finished 12-of-23 for 94 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The quarterback also led the Hornets in rushing with 29 yards on 15 carries.

Raekwon Castelow added 16 yards on seven carries.

Anthony Giovanni led the Hornet receivers with 26 yards on three catches. Sam Matthews (15 yards) and Jared Pittman (12 yards) also made three catches apiece.

Jakob Frederick and Jacob Chantres each had 11 tackles to led the Kalamazoo defense. Chantres, Josh Martin, Joe Piet and Caleb Edwards were each in on sacks.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Trine on Senior Day next Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m.
