Parks sharp again in Tommie shutout victory

More news about: St. Thomas

Senior RB Josh Parks rushed 13 times for 198 yards and three touchdowns in just two quarters of play and No. 7-ranked St. Thomas had no turnovers in Saturday's home shutout defeat of Carleton on a windy day at O'Shaughnessy Stadium.

Parks, who came into Saturday ranked second in all of NCAA football with a 9.7 yards per rush average, improved that to 10.4 yards aided by two long scoring dahes. Parks recorded scoring runs of 46, 61 and eight yards, and now has scored 15 of his 36 career touchdowns so far in 2018. Parks now has 11 career runs of 45 or more yards in his three seasons with St. Thomas.

The Tommies (6-1 overall, 4-1 MIAC) had three takeaways, forced 11 punts, and held the Knights (2-4, 2-2) to 110 total yards and 0-for-14 on third-down tries. The Knights rushed 10 times for minus-14 net yards after 10 tackles for loss were factored in.

Coach Glenn Caruso's team has won 30 of its last 31 games at Palmer Field. The Toms are 40-0 this decade in regular-season games when they have one or no turnovers.

Carlton senior QB Christian Zaytoun completed 18-of-40 passes for 117 yards with two interceptions. Tommie seneior QB Jacques Perra played just two quarters and completed 10-of-18 for 100 yards and no tunrovers while guiding six scoring drives.
