Sophomore Carl Holmes Honored as Inaugural SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for Football

More news about: Redlands
The University of Redlands produced a pair of Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) athletes of the week for the opening week of the 2018-19 competition year.  For Bulldog football, sophomore defensive back Carl Holmes (Fresno, CA) was named the SCIAC Defensive Football Athlete of the Week.

During the Bulldogs' 20-12 win over George Fox University (OR) on Saturday, Holmes paced the team with seven tackles, including six solo stops.  He also registered a pair of pass break-ups and recovered a blocked field goal in special teams' work.  Finally, Holmes played an instrumental role in stopping GFU's final drive to preserve Redlands' victory.

Furthermore, sophomore Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) represented the Bulldogs as the SCIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for his success at the Redlands Invitational.
