Millikin Football Rolls Past Carroll

          Millikin football sent a large Homecoming crowd home happy with a 55-10 win over Carroll University on Oct. 6 at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Illinois.  Millikin improves to 4-1, 3-1 while Carroll goes to 2-3, 1-3.

          Millikin blew the game open early with four first quarter touchdowns.  Big Blue quarterback Nicco Stepina hit Gerald Perry twice with touchdown passes and connected two more times with Jordan Smith to make it a 28-0 advantage.

          Millikin lead 35-10 at halftime and 48-10 at the end of the third quarter.

          Millikin had 662 yards of total offense (398 passing and 264 rushing).  The Pioneers were held to 282 yards of total offense.

          Stepina finished 28-44-1 for 380 yards and seven touchdowns. Stepina tied his own record for touchdown passes in a game and tied the Big Blue record for passing yards in a game set back in 1977 by Bob Lockhart.  Smith had six catches for 98 yards and three touchdowns. Perry had five catches for 63 yards and two touchdowns.  Tyrice Hines had 63 yards on five catches with twos scores and Nicolas Lotts also had a touchdown pass.  Backup quarterback Cal Pohrte passed for one touchdown.

          Jazontae Howard had 112 yards rushing for Millikin and George Jimerson, III added 66.

          Preston Bell had 98 yards rushing to lead the Pioneers.  Carroll quarterback Colton Bahling was 13-22 for 82 yards and one score.

          Matthew Brown led the Big Blue defense with 11 tackles Nikia Averitte had 10.  Millikin recorded eight tackles for a loss including four sacks.
