William Paterson Drops Decision to Visiting Salisbury, 42-0

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson (0-4, 0-3 NJAC) dropped a 42-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) football decision to visiting Salisbury (4-0, 3-0 NJAC) Sept. 29.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Senior back Kadarrius Campbell cut left on a middle handoff for a 15-yard touchdown on the Sea Gulls' first possession (7-0, 10:45), and sophomore back De'John Broadwater swept around the right end for a 17-yard score and a 14-0 margin with 2:00 remaining in the first quarter.
  • Salisbury turned a Sean Carroll interception into seven points when sophomore quarterback Jack Navitsky found freshman Cameron Carlyle open in the back of the end zone for a 13-yard TD just two seconds before halftime (21-0).
  • Broadwater opened the second half with a dive for the right pylon, a four-yard touchdown that made it a 28-0 score with 12:38 on the clock.
  • Campbell's four-yard run off left tackle (35-0, 0:35 in third) and junior Mike-Ryan Mofor's 38-yard scamper up the right seam (42-0, 5:39 in fourth) finished the scoring.

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Fumbles ended back-to-back Salisbury drives during the second quarter, the first forced by Pioneer freshman linebacker Mahkye Boswell at the WP-5 and recovered by junior defensive back Hassan Williams, and the second picked up by junior defensive lineman Jason Gustave at the Pioneer 26-yard line.
  • Junior quarterback Tracy Fudge, Jr. was 20-for-29 for 174 yards and an interception.
  • Freshman running back Kobe Roberts gained 40 yards on 11 attempts, and sophomore wide receiver Siraj Abdul-Malik hauled in six passes for 84 yards.
  • Sophomore defensive back Ra'Keem Bennett paced the Pioneers with eight tackles. Junior linebacker Corey Anthony had seven stops, and two of freshman defensive lineman Chozen Davis' season-best six tackles were sacks.
  • Navitsky was 1-for-1, throwing a 13-yard touchdown. He also carried 19 times for 130 yards, while Broadwater picked up 101 yards and two TDs on nine attempts. The Division III leader in rushing offense (456.7 yards/game), Salisbury carried 56 times overall for 471 yards.
  • Junior linebacker Patrick Bernardo collected seven tackles for the Sea Gulls.
