More news about: Ripon

Junior Defensive Back Lane Barnes played a key role in the Ripon College football team's 28-3 victory against Knox College on Saturday. Monday, Barnes was rewarded for his effort as he was named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week. He has been a cornerstone of a Red Hawk defense that has not allowed a touchdown in their last two games.

Barnes was all over the field against Knox, recording 12 tackles (nine solo), including three for a loss. He also registered one sack, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one pass break-up.

A Business Management major from Clovis, Calif., Barnes currently leads the MWC in both interceptions (3) and forced fumbles (2), while also ranking fourth in passes defended (5), 15th in tackles (21), and 11th in tackles for loss (4). A First-Team All-Conference selection last season, this is the second time in his career that Barnes has won MWC Defensive Performer of the Week honors.
