Tommie Football gets another shutout

Senior QB Jacques Perra threw a touchdown pass and caught a TD pass in just two quarters of play and guided No. 3-ranked St. Thomas to Saturday's 49-0 home football win over previously-unbeaten UW-Eau Claire at O'Shaughnessy Stadium.

The Tommies (3-0) have on 11 consecutive regular-season games and improved to 21-1 in regular-season non-conference games under 11-year Coach Glenn Caruso.

Sophomore cornerback Sam Gerrety picked off two passes and now ranks among the national leaders with four in three games. UST has 12 takeaways in three games and is plus-nine in turnovers.

St. Thomas' defense now has allowed seven total points this season and has played 10 consecutive quarters of shutout football. Saturday it held the Blugolds (2-1) to 131 total yards on 52 plays and just 2-of-12 on third-down conversions.

Junior WR Gabe Green caught eight passes for 102 yards; senior RB Josh Parks rushed for 67 yards and threw a 14-yard TD pass to Perra; and sophomore Tom Loeffler rushed for 92 yards and added a 28-yard punt return.
