BROCKPORT, N.Y, - The 13th ranked Wesley College football team dropped a 49-28 decision to the 10th ranked Brockport Golden Eagles in the second round of the NCAA Championship Tournament.

On the opening drive of the game, Khaaliq Burroughs found Alex Kemp streaking up the field on a third down play for a long 81-yard touchdown catch to take the early lead.

Brockport responded with 21 unanswered points in the first and second quarters to make it a 21-7 game in the middle of the second quarter.

Wesley finally got the run game going on back-to-back long runs. Burroughs rushed for 23 yards and then E.J. Lee followed with a 31-yard gain to put Wesley rifght outside of Brockport's red zone. Burroughs finished off the eight play drive with an 11-yaed touchdown run to cut the Brockport lead to a touchdown with four minutes left in the first half.

Brockport tried a flea flicker on the ensuing drive but Mike Sabino forced a fumble on Joe Germinerio and the fumble was recovered by Samer Manna on the Brockport 3-yard line. Wesley capitalized on the turnover with Lee busting through for a 2-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 21 heading to halftime.

After a tie game at halftime, Brockport drove down the field and scored on a 10-play, 71 yard drive to go up 28-21. On Wesley's opening play of the second half, McDonald intercepted a Burroughs slip screen to Lee and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown to push the Brockport lead to 14 just over five minutes into the second half.

Three plays later, Burroughs was sacked and stripped by Brockport's Joe Mizro and recovered by Austin Dean. Dean returned rhe fumble 15 yards for a touchdown. Brockport went up on Wesley 42-21 seven minutes into the third quarter. 

Wesley cut into the Brockport lead when Burroughs snuck in from a yard out with 5:55 to go in the third quarter.

Brockport pushed the lead back to three touchdowns midway through the fourth quarter and held off the Wesley rally.

Brockport forced five Wesley turnovers in the secomd half. Burroughs combined for three touchdowns (two rushing and one passing) for Wesley. Six different recievers caught passes from Burroughs.

Brockport, the number-one ranked rush defense in Division III, held Lee to 82 yards on 23 carries. It was the first time all season Lee was held to under 100 rushing yards.

The Wesley defense forced three Brockport fumbles and recovered two. Sabino, Shareef Jefferies and Najee Wilson forced fumbles. Manna and Wilson had recoveries for Wesley

Manna and Cappadonna Miller led the Wolverines with eight tackles respectively. Sabino collected seven tackles and a sack while Isaiah IngramCoray Williams and DaJahn Lowery eack picked up 4.5 tackles a piece. Ingram added a sack on Brockport's quarterback.

Wesley ends the 2017 season 10-2 overall and 9-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference with their 13th conseutove appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship Tpurnament.
