Kalamazoo football comes up short against Adrian

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College football team lost its Homecoming contest 36-22 to Adrian on Saturday.

Kalamazoo trailed 14-10 at halftime before taking a 16-14 lead early in the third quarter on a 5-yard touchdown pass from Alex White to Anthony Giovanni.

Adrian pulled ahead 21-16 midway through the third quarter. Kalamazoo made it 21-19 early in the fourth, but could not get any closer as Adrian scored two touchdowns in the final quarter.

Jared Pittman rushed for 102 yards on 11 carries while scoring on a 9-yard run early in the second quarter. Pittman also had four catches for 25 yards.

CJ Foster added 63 yards rushing on 16 carries.

Alex White was 23-of-43 passing for 230 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

Seth Dexter led the receivers with 66 yards on six catches. Zak Zakon had 60 yards on four catches. Dylan Padget also had four receptions (33 yards). 

Greg Kearns made three field goals (27, 23, 29) to account for nine of Kalamazoo's points.

Kalamazoo put up 415 yards of offense, including a season-high 185 on the ground.

Clay Wilkey led the Hornet defense with 12 total tackles. Jakob Frederick finished with 11 while Skyler Nichols recorded nine. 

Kalamazoo returns to action next week against Hope at home at 1 p.m.
