FREELAND, Mich.--The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has selected Adrian College football junior wide receiver Jerron McGaw as the first MIAA Offensive Player of the Week this season, it was announced on Tuesday. The communications major earns his first MIAA weekly award and he is the first Bulldog since Emmanuel Stewart in Week 5 of 2015 to be named the conference offensive player of the week.
McGaw, a junior from Indianapolis, Ind. (Thomas Carr Howe High School), recorded game highs of nine catches and 154 yards during Adrian's heartbreaking 35-31 defeat at the hands of visiting Ohio Northern in the season opener for both squads. He also hauled in a 19-yard touchdown pass from senior newcomer Clayton Uecker that put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard, 7-6. Adrian's first drive of the game covered 73 yards in seven plays--with McGaw accounting for 42 yards during its opening possession--in just 2 minutes and 3 seconds.
