First-Place Franklin Hits Road to Anderson on Saturday

Franklin, Ind. - The first-place Franklin College football team plays its final road contest of the 2016 season by traveling to Anderson University on Saturday, November 5 at 1:30 p.m. in Anderson, Indiana.

The Grizzlies, 6-2 overall and 5-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play, are coming off a 56-24 victory at Mount St. Joseph University last Saturday. The team is tied for first place with one conference loss, and is still in contention for the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Franklin is led by an aerial offensive attack that's averaging 379.8 passing yards per game and scoring 37.6 points per contest. Junior quarterback Chase Burton has thrown for 31 touchdowns and 2,784 yards, while completing 67.9 percent of his passes.

Junior wingback Darrell Crenshaw is tops on the team with 61 receptions, while junior split end Deontez Alexander has a team-high 711 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Alexander has caught 47 passes on the season.

Junior wingback Lee Wroblewski has added 42 catches and eight touchdowns.

Another offensive weapon is senior running back Ty'Ronte Files, who leads the rushing attack with 458 yards and seven scores on the ground, while also catching 28 passes. He rushed for a season-high 91 yards and three touchdowns at Mount St. Joseph.

Defensively, junior linebacker Jared Wesley has recorded a team-high 49 tackles, followed by senior linebacker Austin Day with 39 stops and senior defensive backs Taylor Christensen and Trevon Sevion with each making 36 tackles.

Junior linebacker Colton Hayes is the reigning HCAC Defensive Player of the Week after recording two interceptions against Mount St. Joseph. He returned the first turnover 45 yards for a third-quarter touchdown.
