Britons ride Blanzy's arm to victory

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College scored on its first four possessions Saturday as it cruised to a 63-20 victory over Rockford University in a non-league football game on the Schmidt-Fraser Field inside Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.

Sam Blanzy threw three touchdown passes (a 20-yard strike to Connor Carbary, 25 yards to Tyler Sykes, and 48 yards to Marlon Martin) and Collin Poore ran in from three yards out as Albion led 28-0 after the first quarter.

Brian Blanzy racked up yards after the catch to complete a 55-yard touchdown reception to extend the Albion lead to 35-0 five minutes into the second quarter.

Rayshawn Robinson opened Albion's second half scoring with a 42-yard interception return in the third quarter.

Poore scored his second touchdown of the day on a five yard run and Doug Freeman scored from two yards out later in the third.

Zach Serzo completed Albion's scoring on two yard run in the fourth quarter.

Sam Blanzy completed 21 of 29 passes for 352 yards. Carbary hauled in five passes for 86 yards.

Jacob Leone, Anthony Waite and Joe Wright led the defense with six tackles apiece.

Albion will play at home for the final time this season next Saturday when it tackles Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Hope College. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
