DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University scored 22 points in the first 13 minutes as the Aggies rolled to a 50-21 home victory over Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) foe FDU-Florham on Friday evening.

DelVal improved to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in MAC action while the Devils fell to 2-6 and 2-5.

The Aggies wasted no time as they needed just 63 seconds to get on the scoreboard. Sammy Mohr returned the opening kickoff 62 yards to give the offense the ball at the FDU-Florham 18. They moved the ball to the four-yard line on three plays and quarterback Dashawn Darden took care of the rest with a touchdown run. Nick Restaino added the extra-point for the quick 7-0 lead.

Three minutes later, the Devils were forced to punt from their own eight-yard line. DelVal's Shawn Miller got in and blocked the kick as it went just five yards. Teammate Anthony Thomas scooped it up and raced to the end zone for the 13-yard score. A bad snap on the extra-point forced a two-point run attempt and holder Mike Anusky converted it for a 15-0 advantage.

Later in the quarter, DelVal took over at its own 48-yard line. It drove to the FDU-Florham 28 where on a third-and-two, tailback Robert Cleveland found an opening and a lane to the end zone. Restaino's extra-point made it 22-0 with 2:32 left in the first.

Two drives later, Mohr intercepted a pass at his own 18-yard line. The offense then went on a 12-play, 82-yard drive that was capped by Darden's 13-yard pass out of the backfield to Cleveland and a 29-0 lead with 5:38 to go before the intermission.

The Devils put points on the board with just 1:07 left in the half as they used a 14-play, 72-yard drive to find the end zone. Robert Young ended the drive with a one-yard plunge for a 29-7 score.

The two teams exchanged touchdowns in the third quarter as Darden hit Marquis Ellis for a six-yard touchdown pass with 9:54 remaining and Young notched a two-yard scoring run with 41 ticks to go.

DelVal then got a pair of touchdowns four minutes apart in the fourth quarter for a 50-14 advantage. Darden's third touchdown pass of the night went to tight end Theodore Anya, a one-yarder, with 10:34 remaining, and Marc Woodard II added a two-yard scoring run with 6:01 on the clock. Young notched his third touchdown of the game for FDU-Florham with a three-yard run with 1:54 left.

The Aggies finished with 363 total yards, including a 245-yard effort on 38 rushing attempts. Cleveland netted 104 yards and a score on 14 carries. Darden was 14-for-30 for 118 yards and three touchdowns in the air and added 69 yards and a score on the ground.

Defensively, DelVal held the Devils to 71 rushing yards and forced three turnovers. Jarren McBryde had nine tackles and a forced fumble. TJ Waters added seven tackles while Michael Ockimey recorded six stops and a fumble recovery in his first start at linebacker.
