LOS ANGELES — Occidental quarterback Bryan Scott continued his outstanding season, throwing for 361 yards and four touchdowns.
But the Tigers couldn't stop the run in a 45-28 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Jack Kemp Stadium on Saturday.
The Tigers fall to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in SCIAC play.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps improves to 4-0 and 2-0.
Scott, a First Team All-SCIAC selection last season, is leading the SCIAC with 357.5 yards per game and has thrown a conference-best 12 touchdowns with just one interception.
Garrett Cheadle ran for 214 yards and five touchdowns, and Christian Curcio added 172 yards and a score to lead the Stags ground game.
After an evenly played first half, CMS scored on its last six drives of the game to open up the score.
Scott went 36 for 52 through the air and found 10 different receivers, despite being hurried 10 times by the CMS pass rush.
Oxy wide receiver Ian Bonde finished with seven catches for 101 yards, including a pair of spectacular grabs over CMS defenders in the end zone. His first score was a 27-yarder in the first half that he somehow managed to squeeze behind the CMS defender's back and the second was a 12-yarder in traffic in the second half.
He wasn't the only Oxy wide receiver to have a good day. Brandon Hohengarten scored a pair of touchdowns and had three catches for 75 yards.
Evan Buckwalter led Oxy's defense with 15 tackles and Eamon McNeil made 10.
