Tommie defense powers Homecoming win

More news about: St. Thomas

Senior cornerback Michael Alada recorded his second pick-six of the season and No. 4-ranked St. Thomas limited visiting Augsburg to minus-two rushing yards and four first downs in Saturday's 55-7 MIAC football win at Palmer Field in O'Shaughnessy Stadium.

St. Thomas (5-0 overall, 3-0 MIAC) won its 14th consecutive home game, 15th in a row over MIAC opponents, and surpassed 30 points for the 24th straight game. UST also improved to 9-0 in Homecoming games under Coach Glenn Caruso.

Three different players threw TD passes and seven Tommies scored touchdowns on the day. UST outgained the Auggies, 541-84 total offensive yards. The Auggies (1-4, 1-2) were limited to 0-for13 of third down but they did convert their only fourth-down attempt from scrimmage.

Alex Fenske and Jacques Perra each threw two TD passes, and senior placement holder Dylan Andrew, a former QB, threw his first college TD pass of a fake. Nick Waldvogel had seven catches for 103 yards and Tucker Trettel rushed 19 times for 90 yards. Joe Reed caught a 40-yard TD oass and is averaging 41.3 yards on eight season catches.
