More news about: Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – Freshman Chris Mullins (Centreville, Va.) threw for 250 yards and accounted for two touchdowns (one rush, one pass) in Nichols College's 16-13 win over Becker College Saturday afternoon in non-conference football action at Alumni Field.

Sophomore Brendan Massey (Attleboro, Mass.) finished the contest with five catches for a career-high 124 yards – including an 80-yard touchdown pass on the first offensive play from scrimmage – while freshman Joshua Pierre-Charles (Millis, Mass.) rushed for 50 yards.

The Bison broke out a double reverse flea flicker on the opening drive and Mullins found Massey for the game's first touchdown 1:34 into the game. Freshman Alex Santiago (Sunrise, Fla.) stretched the lead to 10-0 with a 22-yard field goal in the second quarter before 10 unanswered points from the Hawks sent both teams to the locker room with the score tied at 10. Senior Brandon Mulling (Naples, Fla.) caught a 12-yard touchdown pass at 7:19 before a 42-yard FG from classmate Jacob Holmes (Worcester, Mass.) right before halftime knotted the score.

Becker went ahead 13-10 late in the third quarter when Holmes capped an eight-play, 52-yard drive with a 37-yard field goal. The Bison answered back with a 10-play, 77-yard drive that Mullins closed with a one-yard TD run. A 16-yard completion from Mullins to freshman Griffen Gooden (North Franklin, Mass.) and a 20-yard run by junior Michael Nolan (Coventry, R.I.) sparked the drive.

Senior captain Matthew McEvilly (Clinton, Mass.) collected a game-high 12 tackles (seven solo) for Nichols while freshman Michael Spraulding (Lithonia, Ga,) picked up two sacks. The Hawks rushed for 195 yards, led by senior Hugh Holmes (Bowie, Md.) with 93. Becker junior QB Nas Sinkfield-Shelton (New Rochelle, N.Y.), meanwhile, completed 10-of-23 passes for 149 yards and one score.
