Mequon, Wis. - Senior Nick Sullivan (Flushing, Mich./Flint Powers) scored on a one-yard touchdown run with 23 seconds remaining to lift the Alma College football team to a 31-28 road win at Concordia University Wisconsin Saturday (Sept. 17) afternoon at CUW's Tomasini Stadium.

The Scots (2-1 overall) weathered a furious comeback from the host Falcons, which scored 21 straight points in the second half and took a 28-24 lead with 2:06 to play in the game.

Following the go-ahead touchdown and starting from their own 35 yard line, the Scots got deep into Falcon territory after junior Dylan Zaborowski (Jackson, Mich./Michigan Center) found junior Danny Hugan II (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) for a 40-yard pass reception, then a personal foul penalty on CUW gave Alma the ball on the Falcons' 13 yard line.

Sullivan carried the ball three times for 12 yards to get the Scots down to the one-yard line, then after an incomplete pass by Zaborowski, found the end zone for the game-winning score.

Sullivan finished the game with 106 yards for his second straight 100-yard game and also scored multiple touchdowns for the fourth time in an Alma uniform as the Scots rolled up 290 yards on the ground. Zaborowski was 21-of-41 with 268 yards and a touchdown and also logged 99 yards rushing in 21 carries.

Alma opened the game with a 17-0 lead halfway through the second quarter to take a commanding lead. Sophomore Jacob Plisko (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) connected on a 23-yard field goal to begin the scoring, then junior Nick Mozart (Manchester, Mich./Manchester) scored his first career touchdown on a three-yard pass from Zaborowski to give the Scots a 14-0 lead after the first 15 minutes. Sophomore Essa Kellah (Grand Rapids, Mich./Godwin Heights) put Alma up 17-0 after a 26-yard run with 8:38 left in the opening half.

Concordia Wisconsin (2-1) took the ensuing kickoff return 85 yards for the score, then Sullivan scored his first of the day from one yard out with 58 seconds left in the second quarter to give Alma a 24-7 advantage at the half.

The Falcons began their 21-0 run in the third quarter, first on a 10-yard pass from Aaron Nixon to Ryan Wagner in the third quarter, then Nixon found Dante Edward for two straight scores to take the lead. Edwards caught an 80-yard touchdown pass with 7:17 left in the game and then scored on an 18-yard pass reception to give CUW a 28-24 advantage. Edwards finished the game with seven catches for a game-high 159 yards.

Hugan led Alma's receivers with 134 yards on seven catches as the Scots posted 558 yards of total offense. Senior Jacob Chittenden (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) paced the Alma defense with 14 tackles as the Scots held the Falcons to 55 yards on the ground. Sophomore Dallas Reeser (Ithaca, Mich./Ithaca) added 11 tackles, while senior Troy Gahm (Gaylord, Mich./Gaylord) had nine tackles, including three sacks and four tackles for loss.

The Scots have a week off before traveling to Kalamazoo, Mich., on Saturday, Oct. 1, to open Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play against the Kalamazoo College Hornets.
