Johns Hopkins' Be The Match Information Sheet

BALTIMORE, MD – For the second consecutive year, the Johns Hopkins football team has partnered with Be The Match® and will host a Marrow Donor Drive on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 11 am - 3 pm in Goldfarb Gym (located in the Newton White Athletic Center) and the Levering Courtyard; both are located on the Homewood Campus. In its first year of participation, the Johns Hopkins football team registered 245 individuals, a total that ranked 14th among the 46 college football programs that participated in 2014-15.

Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukemia or lymphoma; the only hope for many of these individuals is a life-saving marrow transplant. 70% of these patients will rely on the Be The Match Registry for their matching donor. Patients with diverse ancestry have a more difficult time finding a matching donor. You can change that.

Last Year, the Get in the Game (GITG) Be The Match® program had over 9,500 registrants and that number is now more than 61,000 since the GITG initiative launched under the direction of Villanova head coach Andy Talley in 2008.

Registering for the program is quick and easy. Visit the official Johns Hopkins football Be The Match® team page to learn more, make a donation or register online if you can't make it to the on-campus registration.
