DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols College sophomore Brett McEvoy (Wrentham, Mass.) has been named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III North Football North All-Star Second Team.
McEvoy – who was named to the New England Football Conference (NEFC) and 25th Annual Steve 'Merc' Morris All-Star Football First Team earlier this month – led the NEFC with 96 tackles (56 solo) and also notched 2.5 tackles for loss (TFL) and two interceptions.
"Brett had a tremendous year leading the conference in tackles," said Nichols head coach Dale Olmsted. "He worked very hard last offseason and it's nice to see that hard work pay off. It was an honor to see him named to both the NEFC First Team and the Worcester Area All-Star Team, and now adding this to his resume is a great accomplishment. I can't think of a more deserving student-athlete in our program. Brett makes everyone around his better and is one of the true role models for our program."
McEvoy registered six games with 10-or-more tackles, highlighted by 14-tackle efforts against both Westfield State (Sept. 4) and Maine Maritime (Nov. 14). He had three TFL and 1.5 sacks against Becker on Homecoming Weekend on Sept. 20 and returned an interception 51 yards against Endicott the following week.
The Bison open the 2016 campaign on Saturday, September 3 at Westfield State.
