KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College football team (5-4, 4-2 CCIW) took on the Vikings of North Park University (2-7, 1-5 CCIW) at Art Keller Field on the campus of Carthage College for their final home game of the season on Saturday, Nov. 7th at 1 p.m.

Lafayette McGary took advantage of the last-ranked rush defense in the CCIW with a run up the middle on the first play from scrimmage for 50 yards.  McGary capped off the drive seven plays later, as he bounced out to the right and beat the Vikings's defense to the corner of the end zone.  A Lance Unland point after touchdown made it 7-0.

The rest of the half was controlled by both defenses as the two teams combined for seven punts and a Virgil Young interception.

The punting game for Carthage controlled the field position battle in the Red Men's favor, forcing the Vikings to start inside the 20 on each of their possessions.

The Vikings looked to even the score on their second possession of the half as T.D. Conway found Devin Childress for a 13-yard touchdown over the middle.  However, the Noah Moore PAT was wide left and the Red Men held a 7-6 lead, which Carthage would take into the fourth quarter.

The special team woes continued for the Vikings in the fourth quarter as Noah Moore, who had previously missed a field goal and the PAT, missed his third kick of the game, this time from 34 yards.

The Red Men took advantage of the Viking miscues on their next drive, putting together a seven play 80-yard drive that Lafayette McGary finished off with his second touchdown of the game.  Lance Unland completed the PAT expanding the Red Men's lead to 14-6. Carthage would hold onto the lead for the remainder of the game, and beat the Vikings of North Park University 14-6.

"It was fun obviously, but it was close, "said head coach Mike Yeager, "I give those guys at North Park a lot of credit. They played really hard, did a nice job and made it tough on us on both sides of the ball but on offense we made the plays when we needed to which was nice to see. When we needed to get conversions we did and on defense we got the stops when we needed to get the stops."

Lafayette McGary led the Red Men in rushing with a total of 14 carries for 112-yards and two touchdowns. Ethan Olles completed eight passes on 15 total attempts for a total of 119-yards. Eddie Miklasz caught four passes for a total of 50-yards against the Vikings. Connor Calvert completed a total of eight tackles, accompanied by K.J. Simpson, Shawntrel Garner and Virgil Young who each completed six tackles respectively.

The Red Men will travel to Wheaton, Ill. on Saturday, Nov. 14th to take on Wheaton College (Ill.) at 1 p.m. in the Red Men's final game of the season.
