BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Berry College lost at Birmingham-Southern College, 14-7, in a Southern Athletic Association game on Saturday.

The Vikings--which saw its seven game winning streak ended--fell to 7-2 and 6-1 in the SAA. The Panthers end its year at 5-5 and 3-5.

BSC struck first when Justin Woolfolk scampered for a five-yard touchdown. The extra point moved the score to 7-0 with 6:22 remaining in the opening quarter.

The Panthers pushed the lead to 14-0 with 7:26 left in the second quarter. Samir Usman capped a 13-play, 69-yard drive with a one-yard scoring plunge.  The score remained 14-0 at the break.

The Vikings, however, rallied in the second half.

Dale Jackson and the BC offense began to move the ball in the third quarter. Jackson was 26-of-47 passing for a season-high 299 yards. He threw no interceptions or touchdowns.

Berry tallied the lone points in the second half with 43 seconds left in the third quarter. Austin Lowe ran the ball into the end zone for the touchdown, which capped a 10-play 84-yard drive. Will Kenworthy's PAT made the score 14-7.

The Vikings had chances to score again and had a strong last drive of the game. With a fourth and ten at the BSC 32-yard line, however, Jackson's pass toChris Lilly fell incomplete with 20 seconds remaining in the contest.

"We've found a way to win at the end, and couldn't do it today" said Tony Kunczewski. "It hurts, but we have another shot next week. We moved the ball, but just didn't make enough big plays."

Matt Farinella led the Berry defense with 11 tackles (nine solo). Lilly had nine receptions for 84 yards.

BC out-gained the Panthers, 329 to 237 yards. The Vikings lost one fumble and BSC committed no turnovers.

The Vikings host Centre College to close regular season play on Saturday. A Viking win means a trip to the NCAA Championship.

"We will have our hands full as they are probably the most talented team our league," Kunczewski said.
