Receiver Matt Kroll of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS) and running back Zac Boersema of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS), both scored twice for the Hope College football team in a 31-28 loss at Trine on Saturday.

Kroll's second 5-yard touchdown reception of the game score gave the Flying Dutchmen a 28-25 lead with 4 minutes, 49 seconds remaining.

Trine, however, answered with a game-winning drive that dropped Hope to 2-7 on the season and 0-5 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

The Flying Dutchmen will conclude the 2015 season next Saturday at Kalamazoo with the "Wooden Shoes Trophy" at stake.

Boersema produced his third 100-yard game of the season with a game-high 103 yards on 22 carries.

The senior scored on touchdown runs of 1 yard in the first quarter for a 7-0 Hope lead and 15 yards in the third quarter to put the Flying Dutchmen up 21-13.

Kroll finished with four receptions for 28 yards.

Sophomore defensive Kimani Dooley of Detroit, Michigan (Clarenceville HS) collected a game-high 12 tackles, made two pass breakups and intercepted one pass.

Hope had a chance to win late on a windy afternoon despite being outgained 493-287.
