More news about: St. Thomas

No. 6-ranked St. Thomas used a 28-0 run to close the first half to take control of Saturday's 38-14 road victory over No. 14-ranked Concordia in MIAC football play in Moorhead.

Junior Jordan Roberts' 254 rushing and receiving yards on 34 touches kept the Tommies unbeaten (8-0, 6-0 MIAC) and moved them closer to locking up their sixth NCAA playoff berth in seven seasons.

Coach Glenn Caruso's team can clinch a tie for the Tommies' fourth MIAC title in six seasons with a win over Carleton (1-7, 0-6) at home on Nov. 7. UST closes the regular season Nov. 14 at 6-2 Gustavus.

Roberts' 67-yard touchdown reception off a screen pass put UST ahead to stay. Roberts rushed 31 times for 180 yards in his sixth consecutive 100-plus yard rushing day. The transfer from FCS South Dakota how has 1,105 yards on the year on 175 rushes (6.3 per rush). Overall, UST had 29 first downs and 552 yards of offense.

The Tommie defense had eight sacks on the day and limited Concordia to 179 net yards, well under the 428-yard offensive average of the Cobbers (7-2, 5-2). Junior first-year starter Ryan Winter had three sacks.
