BALTIMORE, MD -- The ninth-ranked Johns Hopkins football team jumped out to a 27-0 halftime lead, pushed the margin to 34-0 one play into the second half and went on to post a 34-7 victory over visiting Dickinson at Homewood Field Friday night. The win is the 27th straight in the regular season for the Blue Jays, who also improved their October winning streak to 17 games with the victory. Hopkins is also now 49-1 in its last 50 regular season games.

Hopkins (6-0, 5-0 Centennial Conference) got all five of its touchdowns in a six-possession run from late in the first quarter until early in the third to put the game away. Four of the scoring drives measured 50 yards or more and three covered at least 70 yards.

After jumping to a 7-0 lead on a 35-yard touchdown reception by Bradley Munday in the first quarter, the Blue Jays got going in the second with three touchdowns in an eight-minute span to push the seven-point lead to 27. Ironically, Munday's first-quarter touchdown was set up by an interception by his younger brother, Michael Munday, who stopped a Dickinson drive near midfield with his first career interception. Three plays later Bradley Munday had his 35-yard touchdown reception.

Senior Brandon Cherry opened the 20-point second-quarter run with a 16-yard touchdown reception on a screen pass from junior Jonathan Germano that doubled the seven-point lead. Cherry's touchdown was the final play in a nine-play, 71-yard drive.

It took less than two minutes for the Blue Jays to increase the lead again as junior Jack Toner intercepted a Billy Burger pass over the middle and returned it 34 yards to the Dickinson 12-yard line. Three plays later junior Stuart Walters went in from three yards out to make it 20-0.

After forcing Dickinson's fourth punt of the first half after Walters' touchdown, the Blue Jays went 73 yards on seven plays and capped their fourth touchdown drive of the opening 30 minuntes with a 24-yard touchdown pass from Germano to junior Boone Lewis, Jr. with 3:36 left in the first half. Germano hit Lewis on a slant and Lewis doubled back to the sideline and out-raced two defenders to the end zone.

Any hopes for a Dickinson (2-4, 2-3 CC) comeback were dashed on the first play of the second half, when Germano hit Bradley Munday with a quick swing pass and Munday got to the sideline and raced 72 yards untouched to push the lead to 34-0.

Neither team did much offensively over the next 25 minutes before Dickinson's John McAlister closed the scoring with a 43-yard touchdown run with 1:40 to play to account for the 34-7 final score.

Germano was 16-of-25 for 269 yards and four touchdowns, while Bradley Munday had seven receptions for 142 yards and the two scores. Walters rushed for a game-high 89 yards and one touchdown on just 12 carries and Johns Hopkins rolled up 493 yards of total offense in the victory.

Defensively, the Blue Jays limited Dickinson to just 217 yards of total offense. Hopkins came up with three interceptions, four sacks and eight tackles for losses. Senior Keith Corliss paced the Blue Jay defense with 10 tackles and two sacks. The Blue Jay defense has allowed just 12 points combined in the last two games -- that's the fewest JHU has allowed in back-to-back games since 2011, the JHU topped Juniata (34-0) and Dickinson (47-6) in consecutive games.

Burger was 17-of-28 through the air, but his 17 completions generated just 104 yards. McAlister rushed for 45 yards and the one touchdown on three carries, but Cedric Madden, Dickinson's leading rusher, was held to just 35 yards on 17 carries. Defensively, Teddy Airoldi posted a team-high 10 tackles for the Red Devils.

Notes: Johns Hopkins is 6-0 for the fifth straight year and the seventh time in the last 13 years • Hopkins has won its first game after a bye eight straight times • JHU improved to 31-11-1 under head coach Jim Margraff in games played on Friday nights • Through six games, the Blue Jays have outscored the opposition 180-36 in the first half • Hopkins is now 44-2 all-time when rushing and passing for 200 or more yards in the same game.
