KENOSHA, Wis. – Senior Artie Checchin made two touchdown catches and recovered an onside kick in the final 1:19 to help Illinois Wesleyan make an amazing comeback in a 21-17 win at Carthage on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The Titans are 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Red Men, who led all except the final 10 seconds of the game, are 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the league.

The Titans trailed 17-9 before putting together a 13-play, 78-yard drive that began by recovering a Carthage fumble and ended with an 18-yard TD pass (on fourth down and goal from the 18) from sophomore Jack Warner to Checchin with 1:19 left to bring IWU within two at 17-15. The 2-point extra point conversion pass failed.

Checchin then recovered an onside kick to give IWU the ball and the Titans went 53 yards on six plays, culminating with a 10-yard pass from Warner to Checchin with 10.7 seconds left to give Illinois Wesleyan a 21-17 lead, its first advantage of the day.
