BETHLEHEM, PA – Senior running back Brandon Cherry tied the Johns Hopkins record for touchdowns in a game with four – all before halftime – to lead the Blue Jays to a 45-23 victory at Moravian Saturday afternoon. The win improves Johns Hopkins' record to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial, while Moravian suffered its first loss of the season and slips to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Centennial.

Johns Hopkins kept alive several long streaks with the victory, including regular-season winning streak (24), September winning streak (22) and regular season road winning streak (12).

After Moravian missed a field goal on its opening possession, Cherry and Blue Jays wasted little time getting going as he capped Hopkins' opening drive with a 73-yard run to give JHU a quick 7-0 lead. The run is the second-longest of Cherry's career and the sixth-longest in school history.

The opening touchdown drive covered 80 yards and was one of five first-half touchdown drives for the Blue Jays that covered 68 or more yards as Hopkins rolled up 383 yards of total offense before halftime.

Cherry would add a 14-yard touchdown run that polished off an 11-play 63-yard drive late in the first quarter and he went over from six yards out early in the second quarter to make it 21-0. His six-yard scoring run was the 10th and final play in a 94-yard drive.

The 21-point lead was 35 by the half as junior quarterback Jonathan Germano hit Quinn Donaldson from 10-yards out with 4:32 remaining in the second quarter and Cherry completed his day's work when he took a screen pass 34 yards for a score to account for the final first-half scoring just 68 seconds before intermission.

The lead would grow to 42-0 less than six minutes into the second half as the Blue Jays turned a short punt into a 33-yard touchdown drive with Ryan Cary capping the quick drive with a two-yard run.

Moravian would proceed to score 23 of the game's final 26 points to account for the 45-23 final score.

The Greyhounds' dynamic running back tandem of Eli Redmond and Chris Negron wrapped short scoring runs – Redmond a seven-yarder and Negron a three-yarder – around a 33-yard field goal by Nick Campbell to make it 45-14 early in the fourth quarter.

Moravian closed the scoring with a safety and a 19-yard touchdown run by Josh Dixon in the final 7:10.

Cherry rolled up 165 all-purpose yards as he rushed nine times for 118 yards and three scores and added three receptions for 47 yards and the other score. He is the ninth player in school history to score four touchdowns in a game and the nine players have now combined to do it 11 times. The last Johns Hopkins player to score four touchdowns in a game was Jonathan Rigaud, who turned the trick at Ursinus on October 27, 2012.

Germano was 15-of-20 for 193 yards and the two touchdowns and added 28 yards rushing as well.

Defensively, the Blue Jays were led by sophomore Keonte Henson, who totaled a career-high nine tackles. He was also in on one of Johns Hopkins' season-high four sacks on the day.

Mike Hayes was 17-of-25 for 191 yards for Moravian, which got 73 yards rushing from Negron and a game-high 10 receptions for 92 yards by Jalen Snyder-Scipio.

Johns Hopkins will return to action next Saturday, September 26 when the Blue Jays welcome Muhlenberg to Homewood Field. The Mules topped McDaniel, 55-0, earlier today.
