AC's Woodyard Featured in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd

More news about: Austin

After piling up nearly 400 yards of total offense and four touchdowns in his first collegiate start at quarterback, Cooper Woodyard has gained national attention, being recognized in Sports Illustrated's famous "Faces in the Crowd" section in this week's issue.

Woodyard, a junior quarterback from The Woodlands, made the transition from wideout to quarterback in the offseason and wasted little time putting up big numbers. He completed 15-of-30 passes for 311 yards and two touchdowns, to go along with 86 rushing yards and two more scores. Among his touchdowns were a 68 yard pass to Madison Ross and a 45 yard touchdown run to end the first half of a 55-41 win over Hendrix to open the year.

Woodyard earned Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week accolades the 'Roos beat the Warriors. Through two games this season, Woodyard has passed for 500 yards with three touchdowns while adding 102 yards on the ground as the 'Roos have opened the year 1-1 and prepare to head out west to take on Whittier College this weekend.
