THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – Maritime Football Head Coach Clayton Kendrick-Holmes has announced the addition of Chris Bright to the coaching staff for the upcoming 2015 season.

"We are really excited to announce the addition of Coach Bright to the coaching staff," said Kendrick-Holmes. "Chris brings a great deal of energy and high intensity to the program. With him coming from a high-level school at Cortland, he knows the SUNY system very well and knows the high standards that we expect from our student-athletes both on and off the field."

"I am looking forward to the opportunity to engage with such ambitious student-athletes," said Bright. "This opportunity that Coach Kendrick-Holmes and the Athletic Department have afforded me with is one I plan to take full advantage of."

"As a former collegiate student athlete, I understand the rigors that these young men go through and I am going to try my best to help them conquer every situation and achieve success on and off the field," added Bright.

Bright brings a wealth of knowledge in the Strength & Conditioning Field, and currently serves as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist at Train Brighter in Bellmore on Long Island. In addition, Bright has held numerous training and coaching positions in the field throughout Nassau County on Long Island, and also in upstate New York.

In regards to coaching, Bright spent the 2013 season with East Meadow High School as an Assistant Linebackers Coach with the Jets. While at East Meadow, he also assisted with the special teams unit.

A former standout linebacker at Cortland, Bright graduated Magna Cum Laude with his degree in Kinesiology-Exercise Science in central New York. On the field, he recorded 142 tackles with the Red Dragons in 34 career contests, with three interceptions for Head Coach Dan MacNeill.

Before his stint with the Red Dragons, Bright was a member of the UAlbany football team and recorded one touchdown as a fullback with the Great Danes during his freshman season under legendary coach Bob Ford.

The Long Island native still resides on Long Island.
