THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The Maritime athletics department has announced the hiring of Thomas Broschardt, who has joined the Maritime football coaching staff during the spring term and will also serve as the department's intramurals coordinator.

As Intramurals Coordinator, Broschardt will be in charge of coordinating all intramural leagues and events at Maritime College, as well as setting guidelines and handling the budget for the intramural department. As assistant football coach, he will contribute in the day-to-day operations and will also help in training and recruiting efforts for the Privateer football program

"I would like to thank Head Football Coach Clayton Kendrick-Holmes, and Director of Athletics Heather MacCulloch for this opportunity to work on the Maritime Football staff," said Broschardt. "I am looking forward to the upcoming football season."

"I'm really glad to have Coach Broschardt on the staff," Kendrick-Holmes added. "Having a coach who knows the area well, and has a good foundation of football knowledge coming from a Division I program is a great addition to our staff. Coach Broschardt will certainly be helping our student-athletes reach their goals both on and off the field."

Broschardt comes to Maritime from Union College in Kentucky, where he served as the wide receiver coach for the 2014 season. While there he held the responsibilities of running wide receiver drills and holding daily position meetings.

While at Union, he also was responsible for assisting weekly scouting reports on opponents and was also in charge of video coordination and play calling, all while assisting in the organization of both home and away games.

Prior to his time in Kentucky, Broschardt was an assistant coach at the Jay Fiedler PrimeTime Football Camp for eight months, where he assisted former NFL quarterback Jay Fiedler as both a quarterbacks and wide receivers coach.

Broschart worked in the athletics department of his alma mater, Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, where he spent several months in the compliance office for the Pioneers. While there he worked on National Letter of Intent's for incoming student-athletes and also evaluated high school transcripts to ensure NCAA eligibility status.

In addition to his time in the compliance office, Broschardt served as the Pioneer football team's assistant video coordinator from January 2011 through the 2012 football season. During that stint, he organized video equipment, and edited film after practice and games for the coaching staff.

Prior to his time on the sideline, he played for the Pioneers on the football field as both a quarterback and wide receiver.

Broschardt graduated from Sacred Heart University in May of 2013 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sport Management. He currently resides on Long Island.
