ALBION, Mich. – Albion's 17 seniors walked off Schmidt-Fraser Field with the positive feeling of a victory. Cody Crawford hauled in three touchdown passes and Mike Czarnecki scored on a 52-yard punt return and a 21-yard pass from Dominic Bona as the Britons overwhelmed Aurora, 62-13.
Albion won its final three games to finish the season at 6-4.
"It was awesome for the seniors," Albion Head Coach Craig Rundle said. "You always want to send guys out with a good feeling. To play at home and win big, you couldn't ask for anything more for those guys.
"I'm proud of the way we ended," Rundle added. "We were disappointed to lose a couple of games that put us out of the race to win the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship, but we handled that disappointment and didn't let it shape the rest of the season."
Aurora got Albion's attention by ripping off a six-play, 80-yard drive – capped by Brandon Evans' 1-yard touchdown run – on its first possession.
Albion scored the next 41 points. After its first drive ended in a punt, the Britons scored touchdowns the next four times they had the ball. Colin Parks scored on a 31-yard run and Bona hooked up with Tyler White on a 70-yard pitch-and-catch in the first quarter, and Crawford pulled in two of his touchdown receptions in the second quarter.
"We didn't change anything," Rundle said. "We were on our heels, but once we started playing hard – attacking – we were better."
Zach Brigham, who caught eight passes to finish the season with a school-record 77, hauled in a 6-yard touchdown pass on Albion's first possession of the second half.
Albion rolled up 637 yards of offense. Bona completed 27 passes for 345 yards and a career-high six touchdowns. Bona finished the season with 227 completions, improving on the school-record 210 he had in 2013.
White hauled in eight receptions for a career-best 160 yards.
Czarnecki and Parks both finished with more than 100 rushing yards. Czarnecki, who became the first Albion back to reach the 1,000-yard milestone in a season since Clinton Orr did it in 2001, piled up 127 yards on just eight carries, for an average of nearly 16 yards per carry. Parks finished with 104 yards on nine carries for 11.6 yards per attempt.
