MENOMONIE, Wis. -- The 13th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Platteville football team shut out UW-Stout, 21-0, for the first time in school history at Williams Stadium on Saturday.

The Pioneers (6-1, 4-0 WIAC) scored all three of their touchdowns in the first half. UW-Platteville outgained the Blue Devils (1-6, 0-4 WIAC) 298-115, and also had an 18-5 first downs advantage in the opening half.

UW-Platteville opened the game with seven straight rushing attempts, and marched down to Stout's 11-yard line. Bryce Corrigan then connected with Dillon Villhauer in the end zone, capping off the eight-play 73-yard touchdown drive.

Andy Puccini scampered into the end zone from 11 yards out on the Pioneers' third possession to go up 14-0 with 20 seconds left in the opening quarter. Puccini ended his day with 133 yards on 23 carries for his third consecutive game with 100 or more yards.

With the Pioneers' second drive of the second quarter starting on their own 1-yard line, Corrigan found Mitch Munda down the home sideline for a 71-yard TD reception with 55 seconds left in the first half, 21-0.

The UW-Platteville defense was on the field for over 18 and a half minutes in the second half, and forced Stout to turn the ball over on downs on the Pioneers' eight-yard line in the four quarter to complete the shutout.

Jacob Zilbar led the Pioneers with a game-high 13 tackles and recorded his fourth interception of the season.

Corringan finished his afternoon 16-for-22 for 214 yards passing. Russell Martin was Corrigan's top target with five catches for 60 yards, while Munda tallied 117 yards on four receptions.

The Pioneers face off with their third nationally ranked team of the season next week, when they welcome top ranked UW-Whitewater on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m.
