GENEVA, N.Y.—The 12th-ranked Hobart College football team cruised to a 33-21 victory over Dickinson College on Boswell Field at the Caird Center for Sports and Recreation. The Statesmen offense put up 480 yards on the day, including 263 yards on the ground in their first game without All-American running back Steven Webb '14.

Junior running back Conner Hartigan led the rushing attack with a game-high 103 yards, including a 27-yard TD run that put Hobart up 33-7 with 10:41 remaining in the fourth quarter. Senior fullback Dominique Ellis added 77 yards on just seven carries. On his very first carry of the game, he broke away for a 53-yard touchdown, benefiting from a timely block at the 5 from Hartigan. Ellis also scored on a 1-yard plunge in the third quarter.

The Statesmen passing game added 217 yards all on the arm of senior quarterback Patrick Conlan. He was 14-of-30 on the day with one touchdown and one interception. Senior wide receiver Elvin Souffrant pulled in three passes for a game-high 109 yards. Sophomore kicker Sean Kirshe added two second quarter field goals, from 29 yards and 39 yards out, to give the Statesmen a 20-7 halftime lead. It's the first time since Nov. 13, 2010, that Hobart has made two field goals in a game.

The Statesmen defense kept Dickinson mostly contained through the first 50 minutes. Junior linebacker Jacob Stanley recorded a game-high 11 tackles, including a sack. He also blocked a 32-yard field goal attempt by Dickinson early in the third quarter. Senior defensive end Tyre Coleman added nine stops, including 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack. He raised his career totals to 68.5 tackles for loss, moving up three spots to 15th in NCAA Division III history, and 39 sacks, up two spots to seventh in Division III. In total, Hobart registered eight tackles for loss (for minus 21 yards), while the Statesmen were stopped short of the line of scrimmage just once, for a 1 yard loss.

For the Red Devils, senior quarterback Cole Ahnell was 14-of-20 for 163 yards and a touchdown. His favorite target was junior wide receiver Brent Scardapane, who finished with six catches for 44 yards, including an 11-yard TD late in the first half. Ahnell also scored on a 1-yard keeper with eight minutes remaining in the contest to make it a 33-14 game.
