More news about: Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College football team improved to 2-1 with a 48-0 homecoming win over Concordia (Chicago) on Saturday. The Bulldogs used 41 second half points en route to the victory. Adrian scored four times on the ground highlighted by senior Damon Brown's career long 80-yard touchdown with 5:44 left in the third quarter which put Adrian up 21-0. Junior quarterback Aaron Tenney scored a pair of one-yard touchdown runs for the first two scores of the game for the Bulldogs. His first came with 13:52 left in the first quarter and his second was at the 10:18 mark of the third quarter. Parish Thomas also had a 25-yard scamper into the end zone to finish the scoring with 14:03 to play in the game.

Tenney also accounted for two passing touchdowns with the first coming to Nathan Hartline from 11 yards with 1:08 left in the third. The second strike was to Sam Courtney from 15 yards out with 14:16 left in the fourth quarter for Courtney's first career touchdown. The other score for the Bulldogs was a 17-yard interception return by senior linebacker Deontae Bridgeman. It was the second week in a row that he scored a defensive touchdown after a school-record 91-yard fumble return at Defiance a week ago.

Adrian won the yardage battle, 461-183, including a 281-57 edge on the ground. The Cougars turned the ball over six times with four fumbles and two interceptions setting up short scoring drives for the Bulldogs. The first two scoring drives were 25- and 20 yards in length for Adrian. The Hartline touchdown grab ended an eight-play, 38-yard drive. In the fourth quarter, the drives were two plays for 14 yards and one play for 25 yards respectively.

Concordia quarterbacks were sacked seven times for a loss of 33 yards. Jack Carter tallied three sacks and one fumble recovery. Jordan Clark had a pair of sacks and Bridgeman and Wallen Augustin had the others. Adrian wrapped up the opposing player 19 times behind the line of scrimmage for a loss of 66 yards. Bridgeman and Augustin led the team with eight tackles a piece. The Bulldogs scored touchdowns on five straight possessions in the second half and forced the Cougars into nine punts. Dustin Salliotte had a strong game with three punts for 46.7 yard average and also 6-of-7 extra points.

The Bulldogs will wrap up non-conference play next week at Carthage (Wis.), a team that handed them one of their two losses last year in the Bulldogs' home opener of 2012.
