More news about: Albion

WHEATON, Ill. – The Albion College defenders couldn't contain Wheaton College quarterback Jordan Roberts and it walked out of McCully Stadium with a 66-0 loss in the non-league football game.

Roberts, a senior, racked up 149 rushing yards and three touchdowns and passed for 127 yards and a score in the first half. He tacked on a 7-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and finished the night with 174 rushing and 156 passing yards.

Wheaton's second offensive unit played the final quarter and a half and it tacked on a pair of scores. Backup quarterback Reece Butler hooked up with Adam Bruere for a 51-yard touchdown in the third quarter and Danny Puknaitis capped an 8-play drive in the fourth quarter with a 4-yard touchdown run.

Albion moved the ball to the Wheaton 3-yard line in the second quarter, but the scoring threat was snuffed out by an interception.

Michael Czarnecki led the Briton offense with 55 rushing yards. Quarterbacks Nick Heiserman and Chad Hamilton combined the throw for 132 yards.

Albion returns home for its Sept. 21 non-league game against Aurora University. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.
