More news about: Gallaudet

LEICESTER, Mass. – Todd and Ryan Bonheyo (Frederick, Md.) had a hand in the first six touchdowns scored by Gallaudet University as the Bison defeated Becker College, 48-26, on the road Saturday before a crowd of 1,236 at Alumni Field in an Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) game. The win keeps Gallaudet's conference title hopes alive, as the Bison (5-2, 3-1 ECFC) will enter the home stretch of the regular-season with three key ECFC contests left on the docket.

GU jumped out to a 14-0 lead behind two touchdown runs of two and 38 yards, respectively, from Ryan Bonheyo (six carries, 65 yards). Todd, the younger of the two brothers, ran in from six yards out at the six-minute mark to give Gallaudet a 21-7 advantage, the same margin it held at halftime. Todd Bonheyo finished the game with 14 carries for 88 yards and three touchdowns and he completed 7-of-14 passes for 104 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

The Bison defense smothered the Becker run game as they limited the Hawks (2-5, 1-3 ECFC) to 22 carries for 16 net yards. Becker quarterback Robert Baker was hard to slow as he completed a school-record 42-of-65 passes for 446 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Baker's top targets were Shaun Llewellyn (16 receptions, 105 yards, two touchdowns) and Luis Sanchez (13 receptions, 159 yards) as the two combined for 29 receptions and 264 yards.

Gallaudet outscored Becker 27-19 in the second half as Todd Bonheyo started the third quarter with a 34-yard touchdown run and the fourth quarter with a 37-yard touchdown run. Todd Bonheyo threw a 12-yard score to senior wide receiver Ryne Worsham (Chicago, Ill.) at the four-minute mark in the third quarter as the Bison led 34-13.

Becker pulled to within 14 points when it scored a touchdown on a 31-yard throw by Baker to Nicholas Sherman with 48 seconds left in the third quarter. Gallaudet responded with Todd Bonheyo's third rushing touchdown on the day to start the fourth quarter.
