Pioneers defeat UW-Stout 62-20.

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville football team was victorious over the UW-Stout Blue Devils on Saturday in Platteville, WI.  The Pioneers (7-2, 4-2 WIAC) won by a score of 62-20 over the visiting Blue Devils (3-6, 1-5 WIAC).  The Pioneers were lead on offense by Sophomore Quarterback Bryce Corrigan and Sophomore Wide Receiver Trevor Whitehead.  Corrigan threw for 356 yards and a Pioneer school record 7 touchdowns in the game.  Whitehead had 5 catches for 181 yards and a Pioneer school record 4 touchdowns in the game.  Corrigan and Whitehead connected on a 65-yard, 40-yard, and 57-yard touchdown passes in the game.  Corrigan was 12-20 with 233 yards passing and 4 touchdowns in the first half.   The Pioneers capped off their scoring for the day when Senior Travis Nelson broke off a 77-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. The Pioneers scoring 62 points in a game were the most points scored in a conference game since 1971 for the Pioneers.  For the Blue Devils, they were led on offense by running back Eric Brown who had 23 rushes for 100 yards.  Hank Kujak threw for 149 yards and 1 touchdown against a very strong Pioneer defense.  Anchoring the Pioneer defense was Seniors Ryan McWethy and Tommy Magna.  McWethy had 11 total tackles with 8 solo and Magna had 8 total tackles with 7 solo.  Magna also intercepted Kujak once in the game.  Bronzun Kyles recorded the only Pioneer sack for the day.      

Before the game started the Pioneers honored their 12 seniors before the game as it was Senior Day at Pioneer Stadium.   

The Pioneers will close the regular season with a game at UW-Stevens Point on November 10th at 1pm.
