#6 Football Flys Past Menlo

More news about: Wesley

ATHERTON, Calif. – Justin Sottilare threw for nearly 300 yards and three touchdowns as the Wesley College's sixth-ranked football team rolled away with a 30-13 victory over Menlo College on Saturday afternoon.  The Wolverines are now 6-1 on the season while the Oaks fall to 4-3.

A senior from Columbia, Md., Sottilare completed 15-of-24 passes for 283 yards with all three of his touchdown passes coming in the first half as Wesley took a commanding 21-0 halftime lead. In the first quarter, Sottilare hit Ryan Gerlitz from 24 yards out to put the Wolverines on top 7-0.  Midway through the second quarter, Sottilare then connected with Matt Bundy for a 67-yard touchdown, and just before the half, Robert Wiggs crossed the goal line on a 64-yard touchdown pass from Sottilare.

The Oaks were able to get on the board midway through the third quarter on a 25-yard pass from Matthias Pelasasa to Robert Adan, but Jeremiah Howe took a 43-yard reverse to the house to put Wesley back on top by three touchdowns with 1:29 remaining in the third.

Pelasasa took a quarterback keeper from two yards out on Menlo's ensuing possession but a 34-yard field goal by Dan Tryon with 1:34 left to play sealed the victory for the Wolverines.

Bundy finished the day with a career-high five catches to go with 103 yards, his first career 100-yard game.  The touchdown was also the first of his career. Brandon Robinson and Matt Barile both had three catches each, combining for 74 yards.

The ground game was led by Howe, who carried the ball three times for 57 yards while Devar Robinson and Askia Jahad combined for just 31 yards on 16 attempts.

Jared Morris led the defense with seven tackles, including one which went for a loss.  Derrick Bender, Devin Hardy and Eugene Lott also recorded a TFL on the day.

Wesley returns to action on Saturday, October 27, when they travel to take on No. 18 Huntingdon (Ala.) in a 2 pm Eastern kickoff.
