CHICAGO -- University of Chicago Head Football Coach Dick Maloney has announced that junior wide receiver Dee Brizzolara and junior linebacker Alex Dzierbicki have been elected by their teammates as co-captains for the 2012 season.
Brizzolara is a two-time All-North Region performer and two-time University Athletic Association Offensive MVP. He holds or shares 13 school records, including most career receiving yards (2,727), receiving touchdowns (33), total TDs (38), points (228), and all-purpose yards (4,952).
In 2011, Brizzolara caught 38 passes for 743 yards (19.6 yards per catch) with 11 TDs. He also averaged 16.1 yards on 14 punt runbacks with a pair of TDs.
Dzierbicki is a three-time All-UAA selection. This past season, he ranked second on the team in tackles (66), interceptions (2), and passes defended (7) and was third on the club with 3.0 sacks.
Chicago kicks off its 2012 campaign at Stagg Field Saturday, Sept. 1 against Beloit College.
