Knights Shut Out at Westminster

FULTON, Mo. - The MLC football team struggled in all phases in a 54-0 loss at Westminster Saturday.

MLC was outgained 472-172 in the game, and also turned the ball over seven times (five fumbles, two interceptions).

Westminster did most of its damage through the air, as quarterback Scott Rodgers completed 13 of 19 pass attempts for 221 yards and four touchdowns. Carl Givens led Westminster with six receptions for 81 yards and two scores.

The Knights also allowed 244 yards on the ground, and were held to 67 yards on the ground offensively.

Westminster jumped out to a 20-0 lead in the first half, and then really got things going in the second half, scoring on five of their last six drives as the MLC defense wore down.

Joe Lindloff struggled at quarterback for the Knights, going 7-15 passing for 105 yards, and was intercepted twice. Nicholas Kressin had a team-high 52 yards receiving and 38 yards rushing.

On defense, Ben Hansen had a team high 11 tackles.

The Knights fell to 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in the UMAC with the loss, while Westminster improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in league play with the win.

MLC will return to action next Saturday, September 24, when it travels to Crown for a 1 p.m. game.
