NEW ULM, Minn. - The MLC football team once again struggled with turnovers early against Presentation that proved costly in a 28-6 loss to the Saints Saturday.

The Knights turned the ball over twice in its first three offensive plays, and then a third time later in the first quarter, leading to two touchdowns for Presentation and a 14-0 deficit.

The Saints scored twice more in the second quarter, moving the ball offensively through the air and on the ground as the Knights looked for answers on both sides of the ball as they went into the half trailing 28-0.

MLC was able to move the ball in the second half, but were unable to make the play that could bring them back into the game. The Knights lone score came in the final minute of the game on a Ryan Schmeling pass to Eric Melso.

MLC was outgained 503-261 in the game, with Presentation doing most of its damage on the ground with 380 yards rushing. PC quarterback Cullen O'Brien had 197 yards rushing and 123 yards passing, and also threw for three scores.

Nicholas Kressin had his first 100-yard rushing day in the loss, rushing 16 times for 100 yards. Joe Lindloff ran for 36 yards, but struggled through the air, completing two of his 16 passing attempts for 45 yards and an interception.

Defensively, Ben Hansen led the team with 12 tackles, while Chuqee Fletcher added 11. Jacob Scriver and Jacob Rothe each had ten tackles.

With the loss, MLC dropped to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the UMAC, while Presentation improved to 1-3 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.
