LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee scored its most points in 61 years and recorded its largest margin of victory in 89 years with a 63-0 homecoming win over Guilford on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.

The point total was the most since a 67-7 win over Richmond in 1951 and the final margin was the highest since an 85-0 win over Emory & Henry in 1922.  The game also marked W&L's first shutout since a 20-0 win over Franklin & Marshall to open the 2007 campaign.

Guilford (1-3, 0-1) fumbled on its first offensive play of the game and senior quarterback Charlie Westfal (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) scored from 13-yards out just three plays later to give the Generals (4-1, 1-0) a 7-0 lead just 1:01 into the game.  A pair of touchdown runs by junior running back Luke Heinsohn (Charlottesville, Va./Covenant), one from three yards out and another from 23 yards, gave W&L a 21-0 lead just 4:45 into the contest.

Washington and Lee tacked on four more touchdowns in the second quarter, including a 63-yard scoring run by Heinsohn and a 4-yard run by junior running back Brett Murray (Lookout Mountain, Tenn./Baylor) with five seconds left in the half for a 49-0 lead at the break.

Guilford turned the ball over six times on the day and the Generals out-gained the Quakers by a total of 535-190 in cruising to their third-straight win over Guilford.

Heinsohn paced the offense with a season-high 167 yards and a career-high four touchdowns on just 12 carries.  Murray tallied 85 yards and one score on 11 rushes, while Westfal rushed seven times for 23 yards and two touchdowns.  He also completed 2-of-3 passes for 71 yards and one touchdown.  Junior running back Russell Stewart (Elkin, N.C./Elkin) added two catches for 71 yards and a touchdown for the day.

Defensively, the Generals were led by senior linebacker Rob Look (Dallas, Texas/Hillcrest), who totaled eight tackles.  Junior defensive back Jake Pelton (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) added six tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery.

Guilford was led by first-year running back Josh Williams (Durham, N.C./Jordan), who notched 71 yards on 20 carries.  First-year defensive back Robert Smith (Winston-Salem, N.C./R.J. Reynolds) amassed a team-high 12 tackles, including 10 solo stops.
