Peter Jennings named quarterbacks coach at Carroll

More news about: Carroll

One week after promoting Kevin Trigonis to offensive coordinator, first-year head coach Mark Krzykowski has added to the Carroll University football staff, naming Peter Jennings as the program's quarterbacks coach.

"Carroll University football took a big step forward in hiring Peter Jennings as our quarterbacks coach," said Krzykowski. "I know Peter from when he played in the Midwest Conference and I know he has developed into a very good coach. I can't think of a better person to join our staff."

Jennings, a former standout quarterback at Illinois College, has been an assistant coach at Iowa Wesleyan College for the past three years. He coached quarterbacks and wide receivers at various points of his opening two years with the Tigers, then was promoted to offensive coordinator for the 2010 season under first-year head coach Kent Anderson.

The Fort Madison, Iowa, native graduated from Illinois College in December 2007 with degrees in psychology and exercise science. During his four years as quarterback for the Blueboys, Jennings passed for 6,044 yards and 62 touchdowns and still holds school records for passing yards in a season and touchdowns in a career.

The Pioneers open the 2011 season at home against Lakeland College on Sept. 3. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
