MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The MLC football team dropped its game at Augsburg by a score of 35-7 at Augsburg Saturday afternoon.

The Knights were able to move the ball on the ground throughout the game, rushing for 259 yards for the game, but were unable to turn the yardage into points.

MLC had two drives in the first half end with fumbles, and another end on downs at the Augsburg six-year-line as Augsburg took a 21-0 lead into the half.

The Auggies kept up the pressure in the second half, scoring once in the third and again at the start of the fourth to take a 35-0 lead.

Greg Holzhueter capped off a 13-play, 73-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run to get the Knights on the board, but it wouldn't be enough.

Andrew Becker led MLC on the ground with 93 yards on 15 carries, while Aaron Voss added 80 yards on 17 carries.

While the Knights had the running game going, the passing game never got started, as Holzhueter finished 3-10 for 42 yards through the air, with all three catches being made by Galen Holzhueter.

Defensively, the Knights forced two turnovers in the first half, but were unable to stop the Augies through the air, as Augsburg quarterback Marcus Brumm finised the day with 307 yards passing, three touchdowns, and one interception. Benjamin Olson led the Knights with ten total tackles and an interception, while Matt Rothe had nine tackles.

With the loss, MLC dropped to 1-1 on the season, while Augsburg improved to 2-0.

The Knights will return to action next Saturday (September 18), when it hosts Crown College for Homecoming. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
