No. 25 Randolph-Macon Uses 45 Point First-Half to Top Frostburg State 48-14

ASHLAND, VA – No. 25 Randolph-Macon used a 45-point first half en route to a 48-14 non-conference victory over Frostburg State in Ashland Saturday afternoon. R-MC is now 4-0 for the first time since 1986, while FSU drops to 1-3 on the season.

The Yellow Jackets found themselves up 21-0 just 4:52 into the contest after scoring on the second play from scrimmage when Austin Faulkner found Earl Peoples for a 67 yard run and catch, putting R-MC up 7-0.

The Bobcats then fumbled on its second play from scrimmage and Faulkner found pay dirt five plays later on a 13 yard pass to Vance Hendren to double the Jackets advantage.

After forcing a three-and-out on FSU's ensuing possession, Peoples fielded a Chris Karolenko punt and brought it back 52 yards for a score, giving R-MC a 21-0 lead.

The Bobcats responded on its next possession, driving 60 yards on four plays, finding the end zone 30 touchdown pass from Geoff Suddath to Anthony Young.

Randolph-Macon put the game away, scoring on all four possessions of the second quarter, getting touchdowns on a one-yard plunge by Drake Sanders, a Faulkner to Peoples eight-yard scoring pass and a 38-yard field goal from Josh Storm with 1:49 to go in the half to put R-MC up 38-7.

Following Storm's field goal, Suddath was picked off by Jemehl Williams, who returned the ball 56 yards to the FSU three, setting up a Thaddeus Scruggs two yard run, two plays later, sending the teams to the intermission with Randolph-Macon up 45-7.

Randolph-Macon finished the game with 222 yards on the ground, with Will McGhee leading the way with 69 yards. Sanders finished the day with 46 for the Jackets as well.

Faulkner was 10-of-15 with three touchdowns in one-half of action. Luke Sellers and Greg Petrovich combined to go 3-for-6 in the second half. Peoples led the receiving corps with four catches for 73 yards.

Sam Ahonen had seven tackles from his safety position and special teams. Williams had five stops to go along with his interception, while Mark Jackson and Trey Haddon each had four tackles in the win.

Suddath finished the day 6-of-16 for 81 yards and a score. Anton Wade rushed 15 times for 96 yards in a losing effort for the Bobcats. Zach Zile led FSU in receiving with 36 yards on three grabs.

Randolph-Macon opens up ODAC play next weekend at Emory & Henry. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 pm in Emory, VA.
