BLUFFTON, Ohio -Trine went from impressive to astounding in a 76-6
victory over Bluffton Saturday. The Thunder, now 2-0, scored
10 touchdowns and pounded out 600 yards to notch another
record-setting win. The Beavers are now 1-1.
In their 55-7 season opening win over Manchester September 2, the Thunder set a new single-game standard with 625 yards of total offense. In the rout of Bluffton, Trine set a new record for margin of victory and most points scored in a game.
The defense was impressive too.
Trine limited the Beavers to 54 yards of rushing, including posting six sacks for a loss of 34 yards
Eric Watt (Kentland, Ind./South Newton) was nearly flawless in limited action as he completed 11-of-12 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns. Ja Vontae Hence (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Central) ran for two scores and grabbed a pass for another touchdown.
Kent Biller (Nappanee, Ind./NorthWood) led the rushing attack for Trine with 116 yards and a touchdown.
Nathan Denton (Logansport, Ind./Pioneer) recorded 3 and a half sacks and made five tackles. Aaron Selking (Decatur, Ind./Adams Central) scored on a 75 yards punt return.
