CHICAGO — Francis Adarkwa tied a school record with four rushing touchdowns and Clay Wolff became the Maroons' all-time leader in receiving TDs as Chicago defeated Concordia Chicago 56-24 in its home opener Saturday night at Stagg Field.

Adarkwa, who finished the game with 123 yards on 20 carries, scored on a 66-yard run on the game's third play from scrimmage. He then scored a pair of touchdowns three minutes apart in the second quarter before capping the evening with another TD in the third period.

Adarkwa surpassed the 100-yard mark for the second time in as many games this season and for the eighth time in his career.

Concordia Chicago (1-1) tied the game at 7-7 when Khyree Copeland scored from 3 yards out midway through the first quarter. Copeland gained 120 yards on 20 attempts on the evening.

Chicago took the lead for good when Marshall Oium hooked up with Wolff on a 38-yard touchdown completion, the 24th of Wolff's career and the most in Chicago modern era (since 1969) history.

Chicago made it 21-7 late in the opening stanza when Steve Tsilimos blocked a punt and returned it 35 yards for the score. Tsilimos also had a pair of interceptions on the night, including one in the end zone.

A 2-yard Adarkwa run at the 11:42 mark of the second quarter, and a 1-yard plunge at 8:54 put Chicago (2-0) on top 35-10.

Copeland scored his second touchdown of the day, this time from 35 yards away, with 7:52 to go in the half, but the Maroons answered on a 17-yard strike from Oium to sophomore Dee Brizzolara (Aurora, Ohio/ Aurora).

Adarkwa's fourth TD of the game, a 2-yard rush with 6:19 left in the third quarter and a 1-yard plunge by Tommy Parks capped the Maroons' scoring.

Concordia's Josh Tylski accounted for the game's final points with a 33-yard quarterback keeper late in the contest.

Oium threw for 296 yards on just 13 completions. Wolff amassed 172 yards on six catches, while Brizzolara 77 yards on two grabs.

Chicago outgained the Cougars 509-327, despite holding the ball for just 26:46.
